This event is the Belle of the Bay, the apex of a week filled, from stem to stern, with extraordinary visuals and outstanding activities. Although the Tall Ships have been coming to Boston every 5-6 years now for several decades, the Grand Parade of Sail, an undulating procession, occurs only once in every three Tall Ships Weeks. In other words the last time there was a Grand Parade was 17 years ago in 2000. Essentially spectators who are wise enough to get their tickets early to this event will witness 15 ‘pods’ of Tall Ships; Class A vessels clustered with Class B& C vessels, galloping into Boston’s inner harbor under full sail. Each pod will be almost 2000 feet of maritime craftsmanship and seamanship without equal throughout the world. Vessels from Chile, Russia and Spain; to name but a few; with their proud young cadets aloft in the rigging in their countries colorful uniforms; with code flags and nation flags flapping in the breeze, will zig and zag, rise and fall, allowing visitors and locals alike to gasp and giggle as the excitement, like St Elmo’s Fire, ignites a curiosity and passion rarely felt in the everyday that is our busy lives. This all-day affair includes breakfast and lunch, a cash bar, and plenty of elbow room for capturing the moment in the many photographs you will want to take. Oh, and in case that wasn’t enough, the Navy’s legendary Blue Angels will be screaming overhead in their own aeronautical parade or rather formation!
Departure is at 7:00 am SHARP. Estimated Return to port 3:00pm.
