This event is the Belle of the Bay, the apex of a week filled, from stem to stern, with extraordinary visuals and outstanding activities. Although the Tall Ships have been coming to Boston every 5-6 years now for several decades, the Grand Parade of Sail, an undulating procession, occurs only once in every three Tall Ships Weeks. In other words, the last time there was a Grand Parade was 17 years ago in 2000.

Essentially spectators who are wise enough to get their tickets early to this event will witness 15 ‘pods’ of Tall Ships; Class A vessels clustered with Class B & C vessels, galloping into Boston’s inner harbor possibly, if the wind is right, under full sail. Each pod will be almost 2000 feet of maritime craftsmanship and seamanship without equal throughout the world.

Vessels from Chile, Russia and Spain; to name but a few; with their proud young cadets aloft in the rigging in their countries colorful uniform. With code flags and nation flags flapping in the breeze, will zig and zag, rise and fall. Allowing visitors and locals alike to gasp and giggle as the excitement, like St Elmo’s Fire, ignites a curiosity and passion rarely felt in the everyday that is our busy lives. This all-day affair includes breakfast and lunch, a cash bar, and plenty of elbow room for capturing the moment in the many photographs you will want to take. Oh, and in case that wasn’t enough, the Navy’s legendary Blue Angels will be screaming overhead in their own aeronautical parade or rather formation!

Departure is at 7:00 am SHARP. Estimated Return to port 3:00pm.

Grand Parade of Sail Cruise Aboard A Tall Ship

Okay, everyone gets that watching the Tall Ship’s Grand Parade is ridiculously amazing. BUT, has anyone really considered what being in this historic occasion- among the largest fleet of Tall Ships ever to visit Boston, with millions watching from the shorelines, and thousands from lucky spectator boats might actually be like?! I think the closest one might get to that answer is imagining being among Gronk, Amendola and Beloved Brady during the Super Bowl. Yeah, it’s that cool. Especially when there are only 45 seats.

When compared to the Super Bowl these seats are cheap at $249.00/pp. Includes breakfast and lunch.

This is an early departure and a long day; not for the armchair enthusiast but rather for the ultra-yacht connoisseur. This 7-8 hour voyage, in order to get to the start line and join the extraordinary brethren of vessels on time, departs Rowes Wharf at 700am SHARP . Aboard the Tall Ship Formidable, cannons will be fired, the Captain & crew will engage you with story and song, and possibly, if the wind is right, she will soar into Boston under full sail; the Navy’s elite crowd- pleasing Blue Angels overhead will complete this sensational voyage.

Tickets to this cruise will sell out- and soon. If your serious please call the MBL office soon to reserve your passage aboard Boston’s very own tall ship the S/V Formidable.
